The new star among America’s lawyers
Camille M. Vasquez who became famous as one of the attorneys representing Johnny Depp has become the new star among America’s lawyers. The elderly readers may remember that in July of 1984 during Wimbledon Men’s Tennis: John McEnroe defended his crown, thrashing fellow American Jimmy Connors 6-1, 6-1, 6-2. It was the same month when Camille Vasquez was born in Los Angeles.
Camille graduated from the University of Southern California with a Bachelor of Arts degree in political science and communications. She did not stop there of course. Soon after Camille Vasquez decided to attend South Western Law School, where she finished with a Juris Doctorate degree.
After seven years of law experience, she got the attorney position at Mannat, Phelps & Phillips LLP, but left a year later to become a member of the international law firm Brown Rudnick, the company she currently works for.
She currently lives in Orange County, California. As far as we know she has never married and is currently single, however, laughed off rumours presented to her by a journalist outside the court that she and Depp were dating. Quickly it was denied that she and Johny Depp are dating and it was said that the man at her side was a real estate agent but this is not confirmed.
Anyhow… let the new celebrity attorney, star, or “Queen” as her fans call Camille have the privacy she deserves. What we want to point out in this article is actually the secret of her success.
As per her Linkedin profile and the statements on the Law Firms websites this was not the first high-profile case she was handling.
Her current practice focuses on plaintiff-side defamation suits, with additional experience litigating contract disputes, business-related torts, and employment-related claims. Camille is adept at formulating offensive and defensive litigation strategies for private clients.” Besides, she has experience in “handling parallel reputation management and crisis communications issues arising from these engagements.
Since we haven’t had the chance for an interview we can only interpret the data available and that clearly shows that Camille Vasquez was not wasting time. She seems to be very determined. She graduated within 4 years from the University of Southern California and quickly followed in the years 2007 – 2010 with a Juris Doctorate from the Southwestern Law School.
In the years 2014 until 2015 she was also working for the law firm Gordon & Rees. Some interesting cases are mentioned, for example:
- American General Life Insurance Company v. Charlene U. Phillips, et al
- Thomas A. Bullard v. Wastequip Manufacturing Company LLC et al, California Central
One finding for 2016 on the internet indicates that Camille was working at Burhalter, Clement, Kessler & George LLP. She wrote an article about the “New Federal Trade Secret Statute” that requires updates to Policies and Contracts.
It’s actually not very surprising that Camille was awarded last year by the “Best Lawyers – Ones to watch” for Commercial Litigation
In 2017 then she joined Manatt, Phelps & Phillips, LLP. which is a Los Angeles-based law firm of more than 450 attorneys and other professionals. After only a year and 3 months, she switched over to Brown Rudnick LLP a slightly smaller Law Firm, and works there in the Litigation & Arbitration Group.
From what we were able to observe from the current case of Johnny Depp against Amber Heard she was always very well prepared, she is fast thinking, eloquent, super smart and shows the right level of aggression to pursue the case. Not too much and avoiding the risk of annoying the jury or judge but enough to trash the opposing party.
We had asked for an interview because we also wanted to have a statement from her about what she would give as advice for younger people who would also like to become an attorney as she is. Currently, we haven’t received a response, which is of course more than understandable but we hope that in the near future we will have a chance to speak to her once the Depp / Heard case is over.
